What the Whittakers and the Internet Have Taught Me
Over the last few months, I’ve been putting together a timeline of events around the Whittakers, mostly for myself. I wanted to understand how something that started with compassion and good intentions turned into one of the biggest dumpster fires I’ve ever seen.
From the first conversation between Eric and Patrick… to the promises, the lies, the betrayals, the internet drama, and the avalanche of “keyboard warriors” who suddenly became experts in Appalachia, mental health, and ethics — I just wanted to make sense of it all.
As I pieced it together, something hit me:
This wasn’t just a story about one family in Odd, West Virginia.
It was a reflection of our society — and how far gone we really are.
I’ve spent over a decade trying to help people — fighting for families, speaking up for fathers, and calling out corruption. And this? This was my wake-up call.
The Whittaker timeline showed me that no matter how much time, effort, or truth you pour into something, people will still:
Twist it for clicks.
Attack the ones doing the work.
And ignore the facts right in front of them.
This whole saga reminded me why good people walk away. Because when helping others turns into a battlefield of lies, egos, and hate — it stops being help.
So yeah… I made this timeline to understand the madness, but what I really found was clarity.
I’m done.
Done trying to fix a world that doesn’t want to be fixed.
Done being the one who cares more than the people screaming for help.
This is the world you wanted.
Now you can live with it.
